Lori Van Dusen, CIMA®
Lori Van Dusen, CIMA®, is the Founder and CEO of LVW Advisors, a registered investment advisory firm serving wealthy families, individuals, and nonprofit institutions across the United States. An advocate of client-focused strategies for more than 30 years, Lori has been dedicated to delivering comprehensive, integrated solutions within a traditionally fragmented financial services industry.
Lori began her investment advisory career in 1987 with Shearson Lehman Brothers, later acquired by Citigroup Smith Barney, where she rose to the role of Managing Director by 2004. In 2011, she founded LVW Advisors, leading a trusted team of investment professionals with a long-term, fiduciary approach to wealth management.
Lori has received numerous industry accolades. In 2019, she was inducted into Barron’s Financial Advisor Hall of Fame, which recognizes advisors who have appeared in 10 or more of Barron’s annual Top Financial Advisor rankings. She has been ranked #1 in New York State on Forbes’ Best-In-State Wealth Advisors lists for 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025, and has appeared for six consecutive years on both Forbes’ America’s Top Wealth Advisors and America’s Top Women Advisors lists. In 2022, Lori was named CEO of the Year by Institutional Investor’s RIA Intel.
In recognition of her leadership and community impact, Lori has been named to the Rochester Business Journal’s Power 100 list from 2021 through 2026 and received the 2020 Women of Excellence – Circle of Excellence honor. She was inducted into the Rochester Business Hall of Fame in 2019 and was also recognized that year as a Woman of Distinction by the Girl Scouts of Western New York.
Lori is deeply committed to philanthropic leadership, particularly in the areas of education, health and wellness, and the arts. She serves on the boards of the University of Rochester Medical Center and the University of Rochester Thompson Health System. She has also served as Chair of the Board of Trustees and Chair of the Monroe Community College Foundation Board, and was awarded the Alice Holloway Young Award for Distinguished Service by the New York Community College Trustees. Lori is a board member of EDceptional and was the 2024 Honoree of Breakthrough New York.
Earlier in her career, Lori was a founder of the Association of Professional Investment Consultants (APIC) and Citigroup Institutional Consulting. She holds the Certified Investment Management Analyst® (CIMA®) designation, administered by the Investments & Wealth Institute® in conjunction with The Wharton School. She earned her undergraduate degree from Ithaca College and a Master of Education from Harvard University.
Lori is the author of the Wall Street Journal bestselling book Running with Grace: A Wall Street Insider’s Path to True Leadership, a Purposeful Life, and Joy in the Face of Adversity, published in 2023.
A native of Rochester, New York, Lori is an avid outdoors enthusiast with a lifelong commitment to physical wellbeing. A former long-distance runner who completed multiple marathons, she now prioritizes yoga, strength training, and conditioning. Lori has two children and lives between New York State and Florida with her husband.
